The residency
Black Heron Lounge
His home room, and the reason the heron turns up in everything he draws.
Durango sits in the San Juans, where the monsoon rolls in every summer and the Animas runs straight through town. Great blue herons stand in that river all season, perfectly still, then strike — which is where the bird in all of his artwork comes from, and how these nights are paced. House and techno most weeks, jungle and drum & bass when the room wants it, and a named session whenever the season gives him a reason: Jungle Sessions, Monsoon Session, Rain Check.
No cover on most nights. Ten until the room empties out.

Who he is
Andrew, mostly known as Drew
A Durango DJ with a chef's training and a designer's hands.
Drew Drops is a working DJ holding down a residency at Black Heron Lounge in Durango, playing house, techno and bass — and jungle when the night calls for it. He is also a Le Cordon Bleu trained, ServSafe certified chef, an event planner, and the designer behind every flyer he has ever posted.
That combination is unusual enough to be the point. When one person plans the run of show, cooks the food, reads the floor and draws the poster, an event stops feeling assembled out of parts and starts feeling like it was made by somebody.
